Coaching vs
Therapy

Coaching vs Therapy
Therapy: Diagnoses and treats mental health disorders. Therapy treats trauma. Therapists must have at least a Master’s degree in mental health and be licensed. Therapists can offer coaching, but coaches can not offer therapy.
Coaching: Typically focuses on one specific area of your life. Coaching is not appropriate to treat mental health disorders. With coaching, the client must be self-motivated and able to receive feedback and input around a certain problem.
Coaches do not have to be licensed. It’s important to do your due diligence when hiring a coach. Make sure that you trust them and do your research.
Overcome Pornography for Good is a coaching program. It is meant to be worked in conjunction with therapy if therapy is needed for deep or unaddressed trauma and mental health disorders.
If you have questions about your specific needs, please reach out to [email protected]
If, while working with us, we see signs of issues that might be better addressed in therapy, we will offer you support in finding a therapist to work with alongside the program.
Every coach in OPFG is trauma-informed. This does not mean that we treat unaddressed trauma. It means that we can educate, inform, and help you find support if you have trauma to work through. It also means that we are educated on the way that trauma affects bodies and the way deep sexual shame can affect our nervous systems.
When hiring a therapist or a coach, make sure that they are the right fit for you.
Therapists can change your life.
Coaches can change your life.
There are great coaches and great therapists out there.
There are also not so great coaches and not so great therapists out there.
Investing in your mental health is worth it. Working and healing your limiting beliefs, traumas, and inner shame will change your life more than anything else will. It is worth the investments and efforts to work with someone that can help you with this.
